At a Service

Morning services at Cowley Road Methodist Church usually follow a traditional Methodist pattern - hymns and songs, prayers, Bible readings and a sermon. They are led by Martin, the minister; other ministers from the Oxford Methodist Circuit, or by lay preachers.   Morning services are about an hour long.

Church stewards

We are always open to new ways of worshipping.  Recent services have included Harvest Festival when members of the congregation spoke about gifts and talents  they have.

Bread of life bannerOnce a month we celebrate Holy Communion.  Everyone is invited to receive the bread and the (non-alcoholic) wine if they wish to.  It is not necessary to be a member of the Methodist Church.

Junior Church activities are available in the room at the back of the Church for children up to about 11 years old.

 In the kitchen

After morning worship, Fairtrade tea or coffee and biscuits are served at the back of the church.  Once a month, usually on the first Sunday, there is a bring and share lunch to which everyone is welcome to stay.  There's usually plenty of food to share.

Evening WorshipOn Sunday evenings at 8 pm during term time, CREW (Cowley Road Evening Worship) gives a chance to share in contemporary worship in a relaxed atmosphere.  CREW services include modern worship songs with a band, a short talk,  and creative and contemplative  prayer-stations.  Everyone is very welcome, not just students.
