Good Friday Walk of Witness
On Good Friday every year, churches from the local area gather for a series of reflections, silence, prayer, and singing as we carry our large wooden cross up Cowley Road.
This year, reflections were led by Libby Hawkness-Smith (Cowley Road Methodist Church), Pete Jeavons (Oxford Christadelphians), Rev Andrew Anderson (Magdalen Road Church), Rev David Gimson (Cowley Parish), Fr Andreas (St Stephen's House) and Br Martin (St Edmund of Abingdon and St Friedeswide - Oxford).
Andrew (Cowley Road Methodist Church) carried the cross, Rev Hannah Lewis (Diocesan Chaplain amongst the Deaf Community) provided BSL interpretation, and St Mary St John provided some very welcome refreshments at the end of the walk. The rain largely held off, and there were about 70-75 of us, including a lady who had travelled from Coventry just to be with us for the walk. A Good time was had by all!
